Computerworld Malaysia Honours the Vendors Who Care the Most

These are the winners of Computerworld Malaysia’s fifth annual Customer Care Awards (CCA), which salutes the nation’s best providers of pre- and post-implementation consulting, support and maintenance work in the area of information and communication technology (ICT) as chosen by their customers.

In the first quarter of 2011, as in the previous four years, more than 3,000 of Malaysia’s most progressive information executives were canvassed and urged to participate in the exercise of rating, on the scale of 0 to 10, the performance of their ICT solution providers and partners in delivery of services at every stage of a given technology deployment—running from early stage consulting through complete implementation, user testing, and continual maintenance, support and process enhancement.

Their responses were gathered, analysed and audited by regional market analyst house Fairfax Business Research (FBR)–which is a sister company of Fairfax Business Media, the publisher of Computerworld Malaysia–for the highest accuracy of results possible. The ICT vendors with the highest scores across all evaluation areas in their respective categories won and entered the annals of Computerworld Malaysia’s CCA history.

This year, 13 companies took up a total of 19 awards. The multiple award winners were Microsoft Malaysia (with four awards), Hewlett-Packard Malaysia (with three) and VMware (with two). The other paragons of customer excellence in 2011 were: APC by Schneider Electric, Cisco Systems, Dell Sales Malaysia, Juniper Networks, McAfee Malaysia, Oracle Corporation, Quest Software, SAP Malaysia, Symantec Corporation and Telekom Malaysia.

“As the economy, bruised and beaten in the last recession, continued to recover throughout the past 12 months, so did the level of customer care in this country,” said Computerworld Malaysia Deputy Editor AvantiKumar. “We are most heartened by two things this year. How much, for the lack of a better word, ‘love’ has been shown by ICT providers to their customers in the past year. And how much ‘love’ has been shown by enterprises to their ICT providers by taking the time and making the effort to go through and fill out a very detailed questionnaire in order to express how happy they were with the customer care they’ve received all year.”

Mark Hobson, Asia Regional Manager of Fairfax Business Media, agreed. “That is most certainly true. We have seen exceedingly high levels of cooperation between enterprise customers, their vendors and other partners, including those in government. Competition between all the vendors in the running for each award category was keen, as evidenced by the number of close calls we had to make when auditing the numbers in some categories,” he said. “That bodes well for an ICT industry that’s growing, and an economy that’s flourishing. We expect to see everyone in the business to work with the same measure of resolve and industry in future. In fact, we expect to see even greater competition next year.”
