A collaboration with French online music streaming service Deezer has allowed DiGi to be the first telco in Malaysia to bundle a global music streaming service, it said. DiGi customers who sign up with selected postpaid, tablet and broadband plans for smart devices can take advantage of a free Deezer Premium+ service with selected packages.
Customers can also opt for a package under Deejay at RM6 (US$1.97) per month, which includes access to DiGi CallerTunes playlist, said DiGi's head of products - Internet & Services, Praveen Rajan.
"Music streaming is gaining more followers every day as evidenced by the 26 million people who are using Deezer today," said Rajan. "Thanks to a global framework agreement with Telenor Group, DiGi is able to create more value for our music-loving customers to enjoy the Deezer premium service. This latest collaboration with a key Internet player fits perfectly with our intention to build an ecosystem of digital services to deliver a richer Internet experience for all customers as part of our efforts to deliver Internet For All."
Deezer business development manager, Asia Pacific, Clément Gossé, said: "With Deezer, users can listen and create multiple playlists for any occasion, wherever they go. They can discover and enjoy music from a wide selection of music genres that would appeal to any generation, thanks to the support from major music labels like Sony Music, Warner Music and Universal Music as well as independent labels."
"To further optimise Deezer's global platform, DiGi intends to work closely with the local indie labels to help them promote homegrown talents to a wider audience and continue to deliver money-can't-buy experiences to our music-loving customers," said DiGi's Rajan.
"The music industry is evolving into the online digital format and many upcoming artistes are taking this route to promote their music creations," he said. "Together with Deezer, DiGi aims to introduce our talented homegrown talents to the international audience via Deezer's global platform. In particular, I am delighted to share that Aizat Amdan, our Friend of DiGi and recent winner of Anugerah Juara Lagu 27, will be the first artiste we are supporting and DiGi subscribers will now be among the first to preview the latest tracks from Aizat's newest album before its official launch in May.
