Microsoft's Surface RT will be available in Malaysia from 25 April 2013, said the technology solutions giant.
Microsoft Malaysia managing director Carlos Lacerda said: "We're incredibly thrilled that Malaysians will soon be able to experience a new category of devices firsthand, beginning with Surface RT."
"The anticipation for Surface has been exciting to see - we have already received a lot of interest from our consumers, clients and partners," Lacerda said. "Surface is the best of a tablet with laptop capabilities and we are confident that it will truly transform your life in the way that you play and work - all from a single, powerful device."
He said the Surface RT was an extension of the Microsoft Windows experience with the portability of a tablet with many of the functions of a laptop.
The Touch Cover has a 'super-thin, spill-resistant keyboard' in a variety of colours and integrated kickstand for hands-free entertainment.
The device can run applications from the Windows Store, has SkyDrive cloud connectivity, games, a full-size USB port, a microSDXC card slot for adding additional storage, a 16:9 widescreen high-definition display, the productivity of Office Home & Student 2013, as well as battery-life of up to eight hours.
Microsoft's launch includes giveaways worth RM300 (US$99) to the first 300 customers at the Publika Mall in Kuala Lumpur on 25 April 2013. Following the launch, Surface will be available nationwide through three participating retail partners: Challenger Malaysia, Harvey Norman, and Thunder Match Technology.
