2015: The ASEAN transformation

Ron Goh, Vice President and General Manager, VMware ASEAN | Feb. 27, 2015
Ron Goh of VMware ASEAN highlights key concerns for businesses in ASEAN, and outlines the three key areas of IT deployment business must consider in 2015 to build the software-defined enterprise.

Increased data consumption and creation have sparked the need for businesses to look to the cloud where the hybrid cloud model will provide them with the approach to seamlessly extend their (private cloud) data centers into the public cloud seamlessly and without compromise.

End-User Computing

In 2015, Forrester expects to see a significant number of businesses across Asia Pacific embrace hybrid tablet/laptop devices as a start of their enterprise mobility journey. After all, enterprise IT's transition to the mobile-centric delivery model is powered by the software-defined generation who continue to enter the workplace every year. Our end-user study, VMware MeConomy 2014, reveals that 28 percent of college students say they would not consider joining a company that restricts them from using own devices at work.

ASEAN's highly mobile workforce also presents the opportunity for businesses to be always-on, anywhere, anytime. Meeting the increasing expectations and business demand whilst harnessing opportunities of the mobile-cloud era, requires a complete new model for IT service delivery that is built to be Instant, Fluid and Secure. With the right enterprise mobility tools and capabilities in place, robust business continuity plans can be laid, minimizing downtime in the event of crises or disruptions, so that businesses in ASEAN are built for success in this new era for the region.
