Reducing the development to deployment cycle for apps
Mobile apps are increasingly written along common standards. Additionally, agile development techniques and integrated development environments further boost development and adaption speeds. These shorter development cycles enable enterprises to quickly determine what is and is not possible with mobile apps. Application developers can now bring about new mobile capabilities to enterprise users faster, to cater to the pent-up demand from enterprises of all sizes.
There is also increased interest to deploy these applications through a heterogeneous app and mobile environment. Indeed, according to research firm Gartner, 60 percent of IT organisations have plans to deploy their own enterprise application stores by 2014. These self-service enterprise application stores present an opportunity to deploy applications to employees as soon as they become available.
Enabling enterprise mobility is one of the biggest challenges facing businesses today, and applications are becoming a key component of a mobile enterprise strategy. To help accelerate the developments in the enterprise application sector, Motorola Solutions has introduced the RhoMobile Suite, a cross platform development framework that enables customers and partners to develop native applications using the web and HTML5.
The RhoMobile Suite allows developers to write an application once and have it look and act the same way on different mobile devices, regardless of the current operating system. This new technology enables the future-proofing of applications, allowing them to continue running and performing on current and next generation enterprise and consumer devices.
