HP, Microsoft are the Vanguard of Malaysian 2012 Gold Medal WinnersThe two giants continue to take main share of honours at the Computerworld Malaysia Readers Choice Awards 2012
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, SEPTEMBER 25, 2012 — Hewlett-Packard Malaysia (HP Malaysia) and Microsoft Malaysia have topped the honour roll again and have taken almost half of the available categories in this year’s, the 11th edition, Computerworld Malaysia Readers Choice Awards (RCA), themed “Record Breakers, History Makers - the Gold Medal Winners of the Year”. Commonly acknowledged as the ‘Oscars of the IT industry’, the awards were presented tonight at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
HP Malaysia and Microsoft Malaysia each bagged ten awards. Other star performers were: SAP Malaysia with three awards; and Fortinet, Symantec Corporation and VMware, with two each.
The honour roll also included: APC by Schneider Electric, Apple, Blue Coat Systems, Check Point Software Technologies, Cisco Systems Malaysia, CommScope, EMC Corporation, IBM Malaysia, Lenovo, Telekom Malaysia and VADS.
The Awards go to vendors, products, services or solution families that score the highest with their customers who voted in the areas of price, performance, feature sets, reliability and ease of use.
Every year, Fairfax Business Research, the research arm of Fairfax Business Media, conducts the RCA online survey on behalf of Computerworld Malaysia, following industry best practices to deliver statistically valid results from the country’s qualified information and communication executives, including Computerworld Malaysia readers.
There are altogether 40 categories divided into nine award sections: Communications, Enterprise Applications, Hardware, Platform and Tools, Security, Services, Storage, Virtualisation, and a newly added category for this year – Cloud.
In total, there were close to 1,000 product and service contenders for the Awards this year.
HP Malaysia’s win were in the following categories: Consulting and Integration; Data Centre and Hosting; Enterprise Disk Systems; Enterprise Routers and Switches; Entry-Level Servers; High-End Enterprise Servers; Infrastructure-as-a-Service Provider; Mid-Range Servers; Storage Management Software; and Support and Maintenance.
Microsoft Malaysia’s were in: Application Servers Software; Business Intelligence and Analytics; Collaboration Platform; Database Management System; Enterprise Content Management; IT Asset Management System; Platform-as-a-Service Provider; Software-as-a-Service Provider; System Management Software; and Unified Communications Software Suite.
