In September 2017, Ford further introduced a trial to begin testing mixed reality for rapid prototyping with Microsoft’s Hololens headset. Other manufacturers such as BAE Systems and General Motors have taken to VR testing as well.
Marketing may well be one of the first industries to explore VR through campaigns and advertising.
For instance, in 2014 Volvo revealed a ‘VolvoReality’ test drive of its XC90 SUV, which the company delivered in the form of an app using Google’s Cardboard VR headset. Recent projects include Samsung with the release of its VR headsets at certain stores to market its products.
