Buying Slack could give Amazon another enterprise toehold

The online retail giant is reportedly eyeing a US$9 billion deal, but officials at both companies remain mum.

Slack could also act as a front end to many of Amazon’s A.I. services, Lepofsky added. The company could wind up with an Echo product line and the Slack platform for software.

But Lepofsky remains unconvinced that combining Slack and Amazon’s current stable of products would work. “It would be a lot of work to try and merge Slack’s and Amazon’s products in this space,” he said.
