How are you and your organisation responding to current trends and moving towards helping them solve these problems (as cited above in the previous question)?
TIBCO is an global leader in enterprise software solutions. To obtain and maintain that position, TIBCO continually invests a significant percentage of the corporate revenue in R&D to develop and enhance product offerings targeted for the enterprise. In recent years TIBCO has introduced multiple offerings in the Cloud, Big Data, In-Memory Data Grid and Event Server areas, which augment and compliment our core Enterprise Service Bus and Business Process Management capabilities. Our corporate objective is enable our clients to transform their business and operations in ways that provide significant competitive advantages.
As TIBCO CTO for the Asia region I have the opportunity to meet with a large number of enterprises to discuss their objectives, challenges and strategies. One key aspect is to help educate them on what is possible, and to help them define strategic roadmaps to help transform their organisations and to leverage new capabilities and technologies provided by TIBCO.
What will be the most important trends, in your opinion, to EMERGE in the next one to two years in enterprise IT—which will be a boon and which a curse?
Enterprise IT will become more decentralised. Organisations will leverage an eco system of functionality that will be available from partners and cloud based offerings. Successful enterprises will open up their systems to that ecosystem, and will contribute and provide offerings to the services ecosystem.
Knowledge workers in an always on, always connected society will re-shape the concept of how they work and where they work. People will seamlessly transition between work and private tasks on a variety of devices and media, accessing information and work tasks as needed from wherever they may happen to be located.
The boon will be that knowledge workers will have more freedom and flexibility for supporting a variety of work styles and lifestyles. The curse will be that the concept of "leaving the office for the day" will become less of a reality for more and more people.
How are you and your organisation preparing to help CIOs overcome the challenges brought on by these trends (as cited in the previous question) and make the most of the advantages they bring?
Our objective is to help CIOs understand what is possible, and to help them think out-of-the-box on next generation capabilities for their companies. The challenge that many CIOs face is that their staff and business partners are so deep in where they have been that they can only envision minor incremental changes or improvements. Or, they have embarked on ambitious changes before and had challenges, so they are reluctant to "think big". To really provide a paradigm shift and transformational changes, they have to let go a thinking that a decades old pedigree, and instead focus on what is now possible today and in the foreseeable future. Our mission is to help them define what they want to achieve, then help them define how, then to help them execute on obtaining that objective.
