Cisco has expanded its Big Data portfolio with a series of reseller agreements including MapR Technologies, Cloudera and Hortonworks.
The software resale agreements are for Apache Hadoop Data Management capabilities and innovation with Cisco Unified Computing System.
The agreements include marketing, sales and training worldwide. Partners can now simply select SKUs from the Cisco Global Price List.
The product combination delivers a high-performance, utility-grade Hadoop offering to help businesses transform volumes of data into actionable information.
According to a company statement: "A broad ecosystem of partners has been critical to Cisco's success over the past 30 years," he said.
"Data integration and management software partners Cloudera, Hortonworks and MapR will continue to play a critical role in customer success in the big data and analytics market.
"In combination with our recently launched Cisco Connected Analytics for IoE portfolio, today's (March 4) announcement provides customers with a full stack of best-of-breed hardware, software and services to select from to embed powerful analytics capabilities from the datacentre core to the cloud and to the edge for the most actionable business insights.
Cisco vice-president of UCS and datacentre solutions, Jim McHugh, said achieving business outcomes of big data required and analytics-ready infrastructure that enabled a broad range of joint solutions with ecosystem partners.
"That's why Cisco is excited to be working with Cloudera, Hortonworks and MapR and reselling their Hadoop-based data management solutions to customers," he said.
"Hadoop has become a mission-critical platform for Big Data analytics and operational applications.
"By partnering with MapR, we're combining our powerful product offerings into a joint solution for faster time to value for customers."
MapR Technologies is one of the top ranked distributions for Apache Hadoop and has established the standard for high-performance Hadoop, with the release of the industry's first benchmark results for big data systems from TPC (Transaction Processing Performance Council).
The TPC Express Benchmark HS (TPCx-HS) results were based on a configuration of the MapR Distribution including Hadoop running on the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) .
Cisco and MapR have set a high performance benchmark on the recently released TPCx-HS benchmark for big data technologies.
This new series of tests put comparisons of Hadoop architectures across several dimensions, including overall performance and cost on an equal footing at the level of scale that is appropriate for each unique deployment.
MapR vice-president of business development, Jon Posnik, said TPC benchmarks were highly regarded in the industry.
"These results validate the scale, performance and availability of the MapR Distribution. We're already seeing tremendous demand for the combined solution with Cisco to enable utility-grade Hadoop environments."
