FireScope moves into Southeast Asia

FireScope touts its BSM software over ITSM tools.

SINGAPORE, 23 MAY 2011-PTC System has signed a reseller agreement with FireScope, a US-based BSM (business service management) specialist for Southeast Asia.

BSM software -- where FireScope competes with BMC, HP, CA and IBM -- seeks to provide companies with a way to map the performance of their IT assets, such as servers and applications, against the day-to-day processes of a business.

BSM essentially automates the policy-flagging process of an ITSM (IT service management) tool, and creates real-time reports of the ITSM policies, according to Thomas Chin, executive vice president, FireScope.

"Everybody in the C-suite now has a 360 view of their IT operations," he said. The company's customers include Credit Suisse and Suncorp.

Chin said that compared to its competitors, FireScope is "not a rip and replace" and sits on top of the applications stack. A proof of concept (POC) can be established in about five days.

A prospective customer in Singapore with a rival software company that was still on a POC after 18 months and in the midst of a three-year deal, decided to switch to FireScope, after the vendor completed a POC in about five days, revealed Chin.

Chin conceded that FireScope is relatively new in the region, but will work with PTC System to move into verticals such as finance, retail and manufacturing industries.
