CSP (communications services provider) solutions firm Elitecore Technologies' Indian entity has deployed its 3GPP compliant Online Charging System (OCS) for a Tier 1 Malaysian operator.
Elitecore's vice president of product management Dhaval Vora said that the implementation will allow the Malaysian operator's wholesale and retail subscribers to keep track of their account, services and usage in real time.
"[Our real time charging solution] means that the operator is well prepared to support the growing demand for data services and benefit from enhanced real-time capabilities for its Data, Voice & Internet Services," said Vora.
"Better real-time processing and instant notification of credit balance status enhances user experience and eliminates the 'bill shock' scenario," he said.
Vora said the solution meant that dynamic notifications to customers can be sent prior to reaching their credit thresholds as well as admin action in real time.
The solution allowed real-time charging of VOIP (voice over IP) calls over the SIP (session initiation protocol) interface for post-paid subscribers on FTTX (fibre to the home/office) networks, he added.
Being a modular solution, the OCS was integrated with the Malaysian operator's existing CRM and billing systems in just three months, Vora said.
He added that the solution allowed operators to offer subscriber value through personalised packages, ensured optimum network utilisation and increased service usage as well as ARPU (average revenue per user). "Moreover, the solution is future ready, which can support multiple networks on the same platform."
Elitecore Technologies is a Carlyle Group investee global IT product company providing pre-integrated Packet Core and BSS (business support systems) modular solutions.
