Otis Elevator leverages Microsoft’s solutions to better service its customers

The elevator manufacturer deployed Microsoft’s cloud, CRM, and stream analytics to use big data to drive condition-based monitoring and maintenance.

Otis Elevator has partnered Microsoft Corporation to better serve its customers and improve its employees' productivity.

Otis Elevator has nearly 2 million units under contract, and more than 30,000 mechanics spending approximately 60 million hours servicing elevator and escalator equipment annually.

The company plans to transform elevator service by applying new digital tools to better serve and connect with customers. It will do so by leveraging the Microsoft Azure IoT Suite, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and Cortana Intelligence Suite to use big data to drive condition-based monitoring and maintenance.

"[The partnership with Microsoft will enable us to] focus on transforming the servicing and reliability of equipment through innovation with new digital tools and enhanced connectivity," said Otis' President Philippe Delpech.

Together with Microsoft, Otis will also accelerate efforts underway to expand the use of internal productivity apps that are being developed by field teams globally, and the use of Microsoft Dynamics CRM to link Otis' operations around the world. This move is hoped to enhance the customer experience and accelerate business productivity, according to Otis.
