Q&A: Demands of Big Data

Zafar Anjum | Oct. 1, 2013
Make no mistake, Big Data is coming to our region and soon. You can feel it just by looking at hard disk drive sizes, says CEO of Acronis, Serguei Beloussov.

Do you see any new technologies on the horizon that will affect your business?

Software-defined storage (SDS) may soon become a new hot trend for storage business.

According to IDC, overall data volume will grow by factor of 44 in this decade alone (IDC Digital Universe Study, May 2010)

Storage software is a highly critical component of any data centre. Acronis knows SDS is more than a concept, because our online data centres are using our own SDS solution, designed in-house.  We have many customers using these storage facilities daily and we continue to assure the highest levels of data integrity while proving performance, reliability and scalability. Therefore, for Acronis, it is much more than a concept - it is also a test bed for our future Big Data technologies.

Cloud service provider solutions may also come into our spotlight, as we are now reforming our organisation. We are working on the solutions for managed service providers. I believe it will be a new blue ocean for us, and would like to invest more in the market in the coming years.
