SAS and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) launched the Business Intelligence & Analytics Centre at TP's School of Informatics & IT, announced the business analytics software and services provider on Tuesday (18 December).

The state-of-the-art facility strengthens the partnership between the two organisations and grows TP's offerings for students of the new Diploma in Business Intelligence & Analytics, the IT company said in a statement.

SAS said that it is the first polytechnic facility of its kind in Singapore and the Centre will provide students with hands-on experience with SAS solutions, access to SAS analytics experts and opportunities to participate in projects to gain insight into today's business challenges.

The Business Intelligence and Analytics Centre has an extensive suite of data integration, statistical, data mining and reporting software that support the end-to-end business analytics lifecycle. The Centre is part of the school's network of competency units and specialist centres.

"Today, as analytics experience has become a valuable commodity, organisations in Singapore face an analytics skills gap," said Bill Lee, managing director of SAS Singapore. "Our partnership with TP will help develop a pipeline of analytics talent that is critical to bolster the competitiveness of businesses in Singapore."

"The Business Intelligence & Analytics Centre breaks new ground for TP," said Boo Kheng Hua, principal and CEO, Temasek Polytechnic. "We are delighted at the opportunity to work with SAS to equip our students with industry-relevant skills and experience in business intelligence and analytics, which is a crucial skill area that is being developed in Singapore."
