Startups plan to poach interns from cushy corporates

Jessica Gardner | Feb. 6, 2013
Sydney start-up incubator Startmate wants to poach young designers and developers from cushy corporate roles at banks and consulting firms, to take up a new paid internship program working with its portfolio companies

But Mr Scevak said that if the Trump Cards program is successful, it may be expanded to include business development or marketing interns in future.

Despite the drop in salary, Mr Scevak said potential interns would be motivated to leave their current roles for other reasons. "The reason I think people do start-ups is to be truly happy at what they do for work," he said.

Applications for the Trump Card program close on February 22nd.
