Tata Comms signs multi-year deal with Formula 1

Singapore-headquartered Tata Communications said yesterday (23 February) that it has signed a multi-year technology service and sponsorship agreement with Formula One Management.

The agreement will see Tata Communications delivering world-class connectivity to all 20 Formula 1 race locations over its global network. It will also provide hosting and content delivery services to This is according to a press release issued by the communications provider.

Formula One group businesses and race locations will be connected to the Tata Global Network, supported by secure MPLS connectivity. Formula One Management's IT infrastructure and will be co-located and hosted in Tata Communications’ data centres, according to the press release.

The company’s infrastructure will reportedly enable the sport’s official website to instantly scale up to cope with traffic spikes. The Tata Global Network is said to have data transfer capacity of one terabit per second, which will ensure that the company is able to support during race weekends, when the site gets on average four million unique visits per weekend, peaking at seven million over some events.

Tata Communications’ content delivery networks and video capabilities are also expected to enable uninterrupted and high-quality connectivity to the multi-media portal on the website.

The company also said it will provide an additional layer of security to the portal.
