Why PaaS is important to Malaysia's digital development: interview

AvantiKumar | Sept. 30, 2015
Chin Ying Loong, ASEAN VP for Oracle Fusion Middleware, talks to Computerworld about the PaaS market.

Looking ahead: what is Oracle's focus and roadmap in Malaysia for the next 12-18 months?

We recently embarked on a recruitment campaign to hire an additional 1000 staff in the Asia Pacific Region. The expansion is a result of the increased demand for our services, particularly in the PaaS segment. To date, we have secured a total of 800 new recruits thus far and are hoping to continue adding new hires towards our target of 1000.

In Malaysia, we will continue to expand our customer reach by extending our complete cloud services to various sectors. In June, we announced new additions to the Oracle Cloud Platform with more than 24 new cloud services including Oracle Database Cloud - Exadata, Oracle Archive Storage Cloud, Oracle Big Data Cloud, Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle Mobile Cloud and Oracle process Cloud. The benefits of these new solutions will be offered to our clients here as well.

For PaaS in Malaysia, we have customers across all major industries today. We are seeing an increasing level of Cloud interest in the market as the CIOs has a better understanding of the tremendous benefits that Cloud brings to their business.

Here, having a full-service PaaS platform alongside a complete applications portfolio benefits users of the Oracle Cloud Platform as they gain access to robust application development and deployment, data management, Big Data analytics, integration, and mobile capabilities that satisfy key IT needs as demanded by the local business community.
