Chinese hackers have reportedly defaced the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) website on Saturday (4 July 2015) night, according to GMA News.
The Philippines news outlet said that the cyberattack was motivated by the dispute between the Philippines and China over the West Philippine Sea.
Hacker group 1937 CN Team left the following message on the PPSC website: "Hello Philippines, we are hard to be optimistic about the situation... We welcome the Philippines in the form of negotiations to resolve the South China Sea [row]."
The hackers also demanded President Benigno Aquino III to resign from his post for provoking China through a documentary on the territorial dispute. "If Aquino does not step down, if you want to adhere to anti-China [efforts]... Our attack will not stop, we always pay attention to the safety of China's territory!", said the hackers.
Titled Karapatan sa Dagat, the two-part government-sponsored documentary highlighted the Philippines' right to the West Philippine Sea, which China claims as well.
