Social networking weakness
I recall one analyst comment at a security seminar that people are their own worst enemies when it comes to revealing private information to all and sundry over the Web. This is how hackers can get their information, enough to steal credit card numbers and even actual identities online.
But does telling all to everyone mean true freedom? The truly human inclination to share with their fellow beings is what is driving the dark success of the Internet black hats. We seem to be lagging behind the speed of uptake of new technology, that is, we are more than happy to use whatever is available without thinking too much about the downside.
Now how human does that sound? Im sure my digital native daughter would pooh-pooh such concerns, but I believe the world needs to tread carefully though its addiction to newness and to carefully consider the negative yang of the technology ying. Just my thoughts. Happy Lunar New Year.
