Electronics manufacturer Philips Malaysia and local consulting and technology firm Xtrategize have officially launched a dedicated online store called Blipmy, which is the first in Malaysia to exclusively offer Philips products, said the partners.
Under the partnership agreement, which was announced earlier this year in Kuala Lumpur, Xtrategize will be responsible for the management of the online store while Philips will be in charge of stock and merchandise.
The new online store uses the latest technologies including videos and reviews to offer a holistic shopping experience, said Muhammad Ali Jaleel, the country Manager for Philips Group of Companies in Malaysia and also general manager, consumer lifestyle for Philips Malaysia.
"Blip.my will elevate the online shopping experience for Philips customers in Malaysia, by providing an innovative in-store experience that allows them to fully experience the features of the products, minus the drawbacks of online shopping disliked by consumers," said Jaleel.
"The site has been benchmarked as a trustworthy, secure online store that provides customers with only high quality, authentic Philips products," he said. "We are working hand in hand with Xtrategize to ensure that customers have the confidence that they're getting the same standards of product experience as they would get from walking into a Philips physical retail store or distributor store."
The store is hosted on Shopify Plus, certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant and provides annual on-site compliance assessments and continuous risk managements, added Jaleel.
Online security and PDPA
"We chose Shopify Plus to be the platform because it is extremely scalable," said Tony Ong, co-founder and chief financial officer of Xtrategize. "The Shopify platform has evolved with the recent addition of a POS system and mobile commerce solution, allowing Blipmy to be compatible with today's browsers and mobile devices."
"When it first went live in early August this year, our initial focus was to get the core operational components running and to build the right foundation using Shopify Plus," Ong said. We are constantly looking to expand the technical and functional capabilities of Blip.my and integrating the back end with Shopify Plus' ever ready features and technologies, whenever there is an applicable upgrade."
He said the platform included "best of breed services, integration with SEO/SEM, 24/7 technical support, mobile shopping capability, coupon engine functionality, PCI compliant certification, SSL encryption, and more."
On said that the new site used additional tools for social monitoring and engagement, digital campaign design and visualisations and customer analytics tools, some of which are being used for the first time in Malaysia for ecommerce sites. "The site is compliant with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and we have taken additional measures and initiatives to strengthen data protection."
