Dell announces new solutions for campus, data centre networks

Ike Suarez | Sept. 30, 2015
Available from October, the new network switches support gigabit Ethernet and scalability for up to 4,000 virtual port connectivity.

Dell has expanded its networking portfolio with the addition of new solutions for campus and data centre networks. Its press announcement said the new solutions are the Dell Networking C9010 Network Director, C1048P Rapid Access Node and Dell networking S6 100-ON , multi-rate modular open networking data centre switch.

The first two are solutions for campus networks while the third is for data centre networks. The Dell Networking C9010 Network Director is a next-generation multi-rate capable modular switch.

The C1048P Rapid Access Node provides enhanced power over Ethernet as well as user access and connectivity back to the C9010.

The press statement said the C9010 Network scalability for up to 4,000 virtual ports managed centrally. It presently offers support for 10 and 40 gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and offers a tool-free upgrade to 100GbE in the future to respond to increased bandwidth requirements.

On the other hand, the C1048P Rapid Access Node delivers new levels of simplicity and scalability in the campus when paired with the C9010 Network Director.

Also announced is the S6100-ON Multi-Rate Modular In-Rack switch which is capable of delivering various combinations, through multiple expansion modules, at port speeds ranging from 10 to 100GbE with QS FP28 and CYP port choices for flexibility in deployment.

The new campus networking solutions will be available this October while the new data centre networking solution will be available in the first quarter of 2016.
