High definition calls and high speed Internet now come to Myanmar

Ooredo Myanmar to make available services in that country's 68 cities and towns starting August 15.

The Information Age will finally come to Myanmar as 68 of its cities and towns acquire access to high definition calls and high speed Internet access starting August 15.

A press statement by Ooredo Myanmar quoted their mobile telecoms operator firm as saying that the launch of this service marks the very first time such services will be available to people in the country.

To make these services available and future-proof, Ooredo Myanmar will roll out a next-generation, purely UMTS 900 network, according to the press statement. It claimed that this network is today among the world's most advanced with regard to 3G technology. The statement also said that Ooredo Myanmar will be making further announcements following the nationwide launch.
