Take these steps to avoid such disasters in the future:
- Get a Dropbox account, and install the app on your phone (Android or iOS). Turn on the Camera Upload feature (you'll find it in Dropbox' Settings). Your photos will automatically upload to your Dropbox whenever the phone has a Wi-Fi connection.
- Get in the habit of copying photos to your PC or another storage device as often as possible — even when you're on vacation.
- If you're using an Android phone, tell it to save photos to the SD card. Exactly how you do that depends on your phone and version of Android, but it will probably be in your camera app's settings menu.
