SHENZHEN, CHINA, 11 APRIL 2011 – Web security and WAN optimisation solutions provider Blue Coat Systems has launched the Blue Coat ProxyOne appliance.
This solution promises enterprise-class Web security to global businesses that search a low-touch solution for an affordable price.
Blue Coat Systems has also introduced the Blue Coat Cloud Service, a scalable Internet-delivered service that leverages Blue Coat technology and the company’s collaborative WebPulse community.
The company notes the Web Security Module, its first subscription module for the Blue Coat Cloud Service that brings Blue Coat enterprise-class technology to a wide group of organisations.
The Web Security Module also provides comprehensive, real-time Web protection, which according to Blue Coat can be managed and deployed from anywhere in the world.
Companies with limited IT resources find it difficult to keep pace with the increasingly sophisticated Web-based threats with traditional network security solutions such as firewalls and desktop anti-virus software.
“The shift in business to the Web has exposed small and large businesses alike to greater risk, yet smaller businesses often lack the financial and IT resources to protect their users, making them more vulnerable to rapidly evolving Web-based threats,” said Lawrence Orans, research director at Gartner. “These smaller businesses need the same type of Web security that is commonly found in large enterprises but in a solution that is easy to manage, affordable and doesn’t require them to be security experts.”
The Blue Coat ProxyOne appliance addresses these issues and delivers several benefits including real-time Web defence, security without compromising performance, and identification of infected end-users and prevention of video floods.
Building upon fundamental Blue Coat security strengths, the Blue Coat Cloud Service provides companies with an alternative way to deliver Web security to all users. This service provides a range of benefits including proven cloud reliability, seamless new service offerings and deployment flexibility.
The company is extending its technology to small and medium-sized organisations through its Blue Coat Cloud Service.
This service complements the existing Blue Coat portfolio of Web security appliances and enables organisations to choose the deployment option that works best for their business requirements.
“The rapid evolution of Web-based threats, coupled with a shift in organisational structure, demands a security solution that can respond in real time to protect all users, all the time, anywhere,” said Jim Vogt, senior vice president and general manager of the cloud business unit at Blue Coat Systems. “The Blue Coat Cloud Service does just that, extending the reach of our enterprise-class leading Web security technology to all organisations.”
