IT services and solutions provider Dimension Data is to enhance Malaysia-based INTI International University & Colleges' IT infrastructure and campus network following the signing of a three-year upgrade plan.
During the announcement of the partnership, INTI International University & Colleges [INTI] chief financial officer Roberto Antonides said the end result of building better network connectivity throughout the university's multi-campus environment would be the optimisation of INTI's learning facilities.
Antonides said INTI selected Dimension Data as a strategic partner after a thorough evaluation, adding that the transformation plan follows the unveiling of INTI's new campus in the golden triangle area of Kuala Lumpur.
"We want our students to benefit from our blended-learning approach where traditional face-to-face classroom teaching is supported by innovative online tools and activities such as international case studies with students in other countries," he said. "By having a solid IT foundation, we can enhance the depth and variety of online teaching and assessment methods to ensure the best education experience at INTI."
"INTI already has a long-standing partnership with Dimension Data, largely due to their experience in providing ICT solutions and expertise that complements our IT objectives and business aspirations," said Antonides. "As partners, we'd like to help each other to achieve the best outcomes within our own industries."
INTI's data centre
Dimension Data Malaysia and Vietnam managing director Chong Hoi Ming said Dimension Data has alleviated INTI's current network congestion while reducing idle time by redesigning INTI's Data Centre layout to meet industry standards as well as by enhancing the LAN [local area network].
INTI's students and staff are able to benefit from faster broadband speeds, which improved learning experience, said Chong. "Education institutions need to adapt to new teaching methodologies and technologies, while courses and subjects are constantly updated to meet the evolving global market trends."
He said, "INTI's move in transforming its multi-campus LAN and wireless network is commendable as they pave the way for the delivery of a more responsive, agile service experience to support teaching, research and administration activities."
Chong said INTI has also opted for Polycom RealPresence Room Solutions to drive their inter-campus meetings as well as meetings with partner and other Laureate universities around the world. Rich interactive video is also on the agenda and will be rolled out to improve all facets of education - from student administration to course development, as well as from curriculum delivery to content management.
"With this partnership, Dimension Data is able to demonstrate our capability of delivering world-class network integration services that will improve the education offerings of INTI, which is now able to enhance the teaching and learning experience for students, staff, and research partners across the region," he said.
