Education New Zealand's employees widely dispersed throughout the country and abroad now use a Microsoft Private Cloud deployed by Dimension Data Plc.
A press statement by the South African ICT services and solutions provider said the cloud deployed is a hybrid model, utilising both on-premise and cloud-based solutions dedicated to the organisation whose staff members are found in 20 different locations.
The new cloud deployment will support the organisation's mission to attract students to study in that country or to do offshore study in New Zealand's educational institutions.
Among the cloud deployment's tasks will be the delivery of more effective mail messaging, data applications, Web solutions and back-end infrastructure and services.
The press statement said the cloud deployment makes up phase three of the transformation of the organisation's IT infrastructure. The first two phases involved improved governance and security along with high availability to users, scalability and preparedness for disaster recovery. The statement also said that Dimension Data Plc will be sharing the IT environment-related risks and responsibilities for the deployment with Education New Zealand.
