Through this partnership, we can now deliver a single communications offering to help multinational customers do business throughout the region. Ultimately, our customers can take advantage of a comprehensive suite of advanced managed services while continuing to enjoy the simplicity of a single point of contact.
Going forward, what is going to be Vodafone's focus for the region?
It is an exciting time for the industry. Gartner and IDC have named the "Consumerisation of IT" as one of the top trends for 2013, driven by the substantial expansion of BYOD initiatives.
We believe that in the next year we will see more companies adopting BYOD, cloud computing, and other services that lead to more efficient enterprise mobility. We have introduced a suite of services to help enterprises to enhance their data and network security as well as to better manage cost. Such services include:
- Mobile Threat Manager: a cloud-based safeguard solution that safeguards mobile devices against attacks;
- Master Services Agreement (MSA) puts in place a range of managed services to ensure the necessary visibility of communications activity underpinned by a standard set of terms and conditions for the entire organisation's voice and data services.
We also believe that there will be significant growth in the adoption of M2M technology. Global M2M cellular connections are expected to grow from 137million today to 521million in 2017 (28% CAGR). In fact, Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest growing and largest region, from 43million today, to 203million in 2017 (37% CAGR), as compared to Europe and America.
With the vision to connect every machine to transform the lives and businesses for the better, we are focused on making M2M as simple and effective as possible for our customers, providing them with the visibility, control and understanding of their operations.
The potential of M2M is vast. For Vodafone, our industry focus in the region for the year ahead is with automotive industry to enables cars to diagnose engine faults and warn drivers before their journey starts. In September this year, we launched M2M solutions in South Korea as part of the global roll-out plan, with the focus to offer innovative all-in-one M2M solutions for the manufacturing, medical, environment and energy industries.
