Steve Keys, senior vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan of Software AG, talks about how Software AG Live will benefit businesses.
Software AG now offers businesses a cloud-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS) suite, Software AG Live.
"Software AG Live offers a single PaaS with multiple capabilities — integration, process and application — to enable the rapid creation of enterprise-wide and on-premise to lightweight and cloud-based applications," said Steve Keys, senior vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan of Software AG.
The suite is in line with the vendor's aim of helping companies better engage with customers and leverage the trends of cloud, social, mobile and big data.
Details on Software AG Live suite
According to Keys, the Software AG Live will comprise of the following three components that will be introduced in stages to provide businesses with the right capabilities at the right time:
- AgileApps Live: a high productivity application PaaS which provides companies with the flexibility to adapt to changing business processes, regulations and other business needs.
Applications built on this platform (using HTML5) will instantly deploy on mobile devices and come with pre-built integration to social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. AgileApps Live will also take care of security and access issues of the apps based on enterprise authentication policies.
- Process Live: a collaborative business process analysis PaaS that will be available in the second half of 2013. It enables users to collaborate across departments and geographies to improve requirements management and design of business processes.
- Integration Live: an integration PaaS enabling cloud-to-cloud integration and seamless connection to private cloud or on-premise Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) installations. It will be launched for Q1 of 2014.
Software AG Live does not require extra infrastructure and enables business subject matter experts to now develop solutions by themselves too, added Keys.
Pricing for the suite is based on a subscription per usage model, with basic subscription costing US$49 per user per month.
Aside from this suite, Software AG is launching Dynamic Cloud Scaling in the second half of this year to support elastic scaling across hybrid deployments (public cloud, private cloud and on-premise).
