Digital imaging and print solutions provider Canon has launched a professional photo printer in Malaysia called the PIXMA Pro-1, which will meet the needs of consummate photographers, said the company.

Speaking on 22 March 2012, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) director the consumer system products division Donny Ling said the 12-colour photo printer paired very well with the top-range Canon EOS cameras.

"With the introduction of the stylish PIXMA Pro-1 Printer, Canon is reinforcing our commitment to providing quality imaging solutions with exceptional levels of productivity ideal for professionals who want to print photos that are suited for studio and commercial use," said Ling, adding that the new printer used the LUCIA ink system and Chroma Optimizer to print high quality and long-lasting photographs of up to A3+ sizes.

"As camera technology improves, photographers are capturing better photographs with richer and brighter colours," he said. "The PIXMA Pro-1 is designed for professional photographers who are looking for a photo printer that allows them more precise control so they can accurately reproduce the colours that they desire."

"Canon has equipped the PIXMA Pro-1 with several features to expand its colour gamut," said Lee. "Using 12 different coloured ink tanks that not only expand the colour gamut (especially in red, magenta and yellow), it also stabilises its print colours to provide consistent and uniform prints. These 12 ink colours also include five monochrome inks for superior black and white prints with smoother gradations and suppressed graininess."

"Professional photographers require a printer that grants not only superior quality, but increased productivity too," he said. "Keeping that in mind, Canon has outfitted the PIXMA Pro-1 with large-volume ink tanks that are 2.5 times larger than the previous photo printer models. Larger tanks translate into less time needed to replace the ink tanks."
