Semiconductor firm AMD Malaysia has unveiled the next generation in consumer computing with the launch in the country of its new high-performance AMD A-Series Accelerated Processing Units (APUs).

"AMD is enabling a more truly immersive computing experience for PC users in Malaysia with the latest AMD APU," said AMD Malaysia country manager, Alex Tan, on 16 August 2011. "The A-series APU provides brilliant high definition computing, HD graphics and AMD AllDay battery life."

During the launch, AMD showed a range of AMD Fusion-based desktops and notebooks with local partners in Malaysia including Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Sony, Toshiba and others.

"The AMD A-Series APU represents a new era for consumers where they can look forward to more brilliance in computing with unprecedented graphics and video performance in their notebooks and PC," said AMD senior vice president and general manager, products group, Rick Bergman. "Thanks to AMD Vision technology, consumers can also look forward to do more on their devices in brilliant HD."

AMD Malaysia's Tan said the AMD A-Series APUs (previously codenamed "Llano") are already available in the local market and will continue to appear in more mainstream notebook and desktop models from leading OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).
