The beta also includes major improvements for Maps in Japan

Apple has released iOS 6.1.3 beta 2 to developers, which fixes the lock screen bug and brings improvements to Maps for Japan.

The first version of the update came to developers in the form of iOS 6.1.1 beta 1 on 6 February. However, Apple has since been forced to release iOS 6.1.1 to iPhone 4S users to fix a 3G issue, and iOS 6.1.2 to all iOS devices to resolve an Exchange bug that drained battery life, so the latest beta has been seeded as iOS 6.1.3.

As well as fixing the lock screen security flaw that allowed unauthorised access to a locked iPhone's contacts and photos, Apple's iOS 6.1.3 will include major improvements for Maps in Japan, such as better directions, toll road indicators, additional labels and new icons for location categories.

Apple released iOS 6.1 at the end of January, which introduced a few minor - but welcome - changes to the software including the reinstatement of iTunes Match features, a Reset Advertising Identifier and more LTE coverage.
