Maxis is the ‘first in Malaysia to introduce GPRS data roaming service for Hotlink users'.

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 MARCH 2011 -  Malaysian communications provider Maxis is the first in the country to launch a GPRS data roaming service for Hotlink users, it said.

"Hotlink users can retrieve data while roaming internationally with this new service as well as access the Internet, e-mail and MMS," said Maxis chief operating officer, Jean-Pascal Van Overbeke. "The new service was launched with Singapore on 1 March 2011 and now includes the rest of the nine Bridge Alliance countries [Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand]."

Van Overbeke said that Hotlink customers visiting other countries would soon be able to use the service from 1 April 2011. "The speed of development in information and communications technology as well as more affordable air travel has transformed the world into a global village, blurring the boundaries between countries and nations."
