Dell Software has integrated NetVault Backup with Dell DR4100. The former is an enterprise data protection solution, while the latter is a disk backup appliance capable of de-duplication and compression.
Dell Software data protection general manager, Srinidhi Vardarajan, said the integration between the two products is designed to reduce network traffic and backup windows while maximising storage.
"As they grapple with exponential data growth, increasingly distributed systems, and the demand for data and services to be available and accessible at all times, organisations need backup and recovery solutions that are fast and reliable," he said.
In addition to improved performance, Vardarajan said that a product should be easy to use, something that Dell Software provided with the integration.
"By leveraging the Dell portfolio to deliver deep integration across the NetVault and DR4100 product lines, customers can back up data in a faster, more efficient manner, while ensuring the organisation is protected in the event of a disaster," he said.
As a result of the integration, NetVault Backup makes use of DR4100 Rapid Data Access (RDA) technology for improved automation.
End-to-end control of all backup tasks is still handled by NetVault, while control of storage management is done by the DR4100 appliance.
