Hong Kong based hospital system implements Certes Networks’ TrustNet encryption solution to protect sensitive patient information

One of Hong Kong's largest hospital systems has deployed Certes Networks' high speed data encryption solution to secure their layer 2 connections between data centers.

Announcing this today, Certes Networks, a developer of scalable network and cloud encryption solutions, said in a statement that the deployment has been made through its partner, Jardin OneSolution (JOS), a provider of integrated IT solutions in Asia.

Certes Networks said that it provided the hospital system with their market leading Group Encryption solution. The Company's groundbreaking policy and key management capability allowed the hospital to quickly and easily secure all of their regulated and sensitive traffic over their layer 2 network.  In combination with Certes Networks FIPS 140-2 validated 10Gbps and 1Gbps encryption appliances, customers are able to fully secure sensitive data without impacting the performance, or reliability of network or data center.

The encryption of data was necessary as a government regulated hospital needs to protect health information on the customer network.

In addition to performing standards based encryption, the Certes Networks solution also provides persistent authentication of all traffic and allows for automated key rotations, the company said in its statement.

"The ability to encrypt and authenticate at layer 2 allowed the Hospital IT staff to meet all of their security requirements without making expensive modifications to the network," said Andy Kwok, Senior Manager, Jardine OneSolution (HK) Limited. "The ease of policy and key management of the Certes Networks solution really set it apart from the other solutions that were considered."
