Grace Lau is now the executive director of risk and compliance at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
Her appointment was approved by the Financial Secretary, on the advice of the Governance Sub-Committee of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, on 16 January 2014.
According to the HKMA, Lau's role is a newly created post that aims to further enhance the central bank's risk management function, in view of the growing complexity of HKMA's investment and other activities. She will oversee all risk-generating activities across the HKMA and directly report to HKMA's chief executive.
Prior this new appointment, Lau was a division head responsible for the risk management and compliance functions of the Exchange Fund's investment activities. Since joining HKMA in 1994, she has worked in various functional areas of the HKMA including monetary policy, economic and market research, market systems policy, banking development and securities enforcement.
