The central bank of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), has warned members of the public in Hong Kong to be wary of two suspected fraudulent websites: www.fleetnationalbk.com and www.fleethknational.com.
The websites are supposedly operated by an alleged Fleet National Bank, Hong Kong, which claims to offer various banking services in Hong Kong.
The alleged Fleet National Bank, Hong Kong, however is neither authorised under the Banking Ordinance to conduct banking business or the business of taking deposits in Hong Kong, nor have the approval to establish a local representative office, according to HKMA's media statement.
The HKMA has referred the case to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation.
Anyone who has provided his or her personal information to the websites or has conducted any financial transactions through the websites should contact any local Police Station or the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force.
