Market analysis firm IDC has named a 20-year industry veteran to be the head of its Telecom Practice in the Asia Pacific region.
Charles Reed Anderson has the designation of associate vice president, head - Telecom Practice, and will be responsible for the region's Telecom Programs. In this role, Anderson will head the telecoms research and strategy for the region, including thought leadership, market insights and advisory services.
Anderson has over 20 years experience in the technology sector, with the last 13 years spent focusing on emerging technologies. He worked for leading telecommunications firms in Europe and Asia, including Vodafone, O2/Telefonica, and BT Global Services. He specialised in driving the adoption of value-added services in fixed- and mobile- telecommunications industries.
IDC said his experience in focusing on value-added services is valuable in his new role. With this background, Anderson can help IDC customers understand the importance of market analysis, business strategy developments and go-to-market processes.
"His focus will be to leverage IDC's unique skills and knowledge to enhance customers' existing business processes rather than have customers outsource these functions to IDC," said IDC.
As telecom lead, Anderson will also co-lead IDC's Mobility Practice in Asia/Pacific. With his experience in the mobility ecosystem, IDC's CIO customers can seek Anderson's advice on topics such as Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) strategy and solution development, the consumerisation of the enterprise, and the monetisation of data.
Anderson has an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management and a degree in Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Minor in Economics from Northern Illinois University.
