Infineon to supply Next Generation Security Chips for Singapore’s CEPAS cards

Zafar Anjum | Oct. 2, 2013
Infineon Technologies will supply the next generation security chips for Singapore’s Contactless e-Purse Applications (CEPAS) cards, and the Limited Use Transit Tickets used for cashless payment.

Goh said that South Korea and Japan are already way ahead of other countries in NFC-enabled transactions but Singapore will also see fast growth in this area as the country is ready for an NFC take off.

Infineon is ready with a micro SD card and other solutions that can be inserted in smartphones for NFC transactions.

Until that happens, Goh said, chip-based smartcards will rule the roost.
