Two new mobile voice-directed computers that can withstand heavy industrial use have been launched in Malaysia, said supply chain solutions provider Intermec.

The two new devices - CV41 and CV61 - feature Vocollect Voice to increase productivity for forklift operators in Malaysia and through Asia, said Intermec vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, Mike Muller. "These new offerings represent the first vehicle-mount computers certified to offer the proven productivity, accuracy, safety and reduced training time benefits that include  a CANBUS interface to support forklift fleet management applications."

"With the market as competitive as it is across Asia, it's important that Intermec's new vehicle-mount computers are built to withstand our customers' most challenging environments - delivering fast, reliable and secure connection to sectors including warehouses, T&L, retail, factory environments and cargo operations," said Muller. "The CV41 and CV61 strengthen Intermec's position as a technology leader across the Asia Pacific region, offering one of the industry's broadest suites of advanced data collection solutions."

He said the CV41 vehicle-mount computer improved forklift operator performance by providing a balance of operator usability, application performance, and ease of deployment and maintenance. "Additionally, the CV41 exclusive device health reporting capability provides dynamic updates to allow mobile workers and IT administrators to monitor and prevent issues related to scanning, communications and a wide range of other critical device health functions before they impact operations."

Optional Capability

"The optional Vocollect Voice capability, complete with client and wireless headset, provides additional productivity, accuracy and training benefits associated with voice-directed work," said Muller, while the CV61 made it easier to migrate from legacy vehicle-mount computers. "In a larger display model, the CV61 is a touch screen vehicle-mount computer and is the successor to the successful CV60. The 30.7 cm (12.1 in) LED backlit touchscreen display is easy to read in dimly-lit or outdoor environments. Its IP66 rating ensures dust-tight operation and pressure-wash water sealing, while its user-swappable solid state disk storage preserves data integrity even in harsh, high vibration environments. Like the CV41, the CV61 features the same optional Vocollect Voice capability and its associated benefits."

"Intermec's CV41 and CV61 represent significant enhancements to their vehicle-mount computer and distribution centre solutions portfolio. These computers address end-users' form factor, functionality and management requirements," said VDC Research vice president mobile & wireless practice, David Krebs.
