Is Asia ready for 4K?

Zafirah Salim | July 11, 2014
In this interview, Akamai’s Chief Strategist for Media, APJ, David Habben, discusses findings of the company’s recent State of the Internet report, and shares his insights on Asia’s readiness for 4K technology.

"Broadcasters will see more value in streaming 8K content onto large screens in public spaces such as in a sports bar or a stadium, providing high quality in a large space. Not to forget, 8K content also streams sound at 22.2-channel sound, a surround sound that requires the use of 24 speakers. Operating at that scale, 8K will no doubt be leveraged for outdoor broadcast purposes, with 4K remaining its potential for mass penetration in Asia."
