Singapore telco M1 Limited (M1) announced today its inaugural offer to provide carrier billing service for taxi drivers.
GrabTaxi, the second largest taxi network in Singapore, speedily connects passengers to available taxi drivers in the vicinity through its GPS-enabled mobile app.
According to its media statement, this social start-up has enabled many taxi drivers to enjoy increased earnings of over 30 per cent. In turn, these drivers pay GrabTaxi a small fee for bookings made through its app.
The new M1 carrier billing service lets taxi drivers pay GrabTaxi through their M1 bill, instead of having to make a trip to GrabTaxi’s office. They will also get to enjoy a 20 per cent bonus for each S$10, S$30, or S$50 top up.
Lim Kell Jay, General Manager of GrabTaxi said: “Our focus has always been to ensure our users have the best possible experience when using GrabTaxi. This goes beyond helping passengers get rides as fast as possible and drivers to increase their incomes, but also extends to making the entire aspect as simple as possible for everyone.”
To mark this first-of-its-kind service in Singapore, the first 10,000 M1 customers will get to enjoy a S$3 discount off taxi fare with their first GrabTaxi booking made through its app. This offer is valid from now till May 31 2014.
GrabTaxi is a free app for smartphones and tablets, and can be downloaded from Google Play (Android), iTunes App Store (iOS), Windows Phone, and the Blackberry World app store.
