Mahindra Satyam names new board director

New appointee is an IT industry veteran with experience in telco and software markets.

India's Mahindra Satyam has named Al-Noor Ramji for the company's board of directors effective 1 June 2011.

Ramji has been the executive vice president and general manager of Misys International Banking Systems since 2010. Before Misys, he served as chief executive officer for BT Exact Technologies and provided leadership in different group companies of BT.

Before BT, Ramji was chief e-commerce officer at Qwest Communications. He was also global chief information officer for Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. Ramji founded Webtek Software and served at the helm as group CEO.

Ramji became director of Tech Mahindra (Americas) and Tech Mahindra Limited.

"His experience in steering large organisations, combined with his entrepreneurial skills and global experience will be invaluable for us at this stage," said Vineet Nayyar, board chairman, Mahindra Satyam. "I am confident that his guidance and wisdom will help us as we step into our growth phase," he added.

For his achievements, Ramji's garnered industry awards such as CIO Magazine's CIO 100 Award, CNET UK CIO of the Year and the British Computer Society CIO of the Year.

A chartered financial analyst, Ramji graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electronics from University of London.
