According to Malaysian 3G firm U Mobile, its new U Card rewards programme is the first of its kind in the country, and the result of partnership with another Malaysian firm BLoyalty [BCard].

During the launch in Kuala Lumpur, U Mobile chief executive officer Jaffa Sany Ariffin confirmed the rewards programme positioned the firm as the first 3G mobile operator in the country to opt for such a programme.

Ariffin said the U Card programme rewarded customer loyalty with point to redeem discounts, rewards and merchandise rather than only free talk time, free SMS and free data. Customers could collect points whenever they purchase U Mobile products and also make bill payments. "In addition, they are also able to collect points at more than 70 BCard merchant partners and redeem rewards and benefits in over 700 retail outlets nationwide."

"We are constantly striving to be a dynamic player in the market, innovating in our products, services and consumer engagement programmes in order to enhance their mobile experience," said Ariffin.

"The U Card is one of our many initiatives to reward our loyal subscribers who have shown great support by choosing our services to stay connected with their friends and family," he said.

Rewarding loyalty to brand a long term plan

"We will continue to explore more opportunities to reward their loyalty to the brand and are confident that with this initiative, we will continue growing our subscriber base in the coming months" he said.

Ariffin said the signing with BCard helps to tap into BCard's own range of merchant partners from various industries. "Consumers who hold a U Card can enjoy more rewards and benefits every time they shop and dine at any BCard merchant nationwide."

BCard operator BLoyalty director Gary Yeoh welcomed the partnership. "As a lifestyle loyalty card, which represents a wide range of merchant partners from various industries, we believe in customer loyalty and always strive to look for new and exciting merchant partners who share the same vision with us in engaging and building a long-term relationship with the customers."

To mark the launch of U Card, U Mobile is offering the first 50,000 customers who sign-up for the rewards programme a free 200 U Card reward points that ends October 2013.
