During its recent 27th annual general meeting, the National ICT Association of Malaysia, PIKOM, elected its new Council for 2013/2014.
The line up includes new chairman, Cheah Kok Hoong who is the group chief executive officer of Hitachi Sunway Information Systems and brings more than 20 years of experience across technology, business strategy, services globalisation including policy development for large regional conglomerates, according to a PIKOM statement.
"I am grateful for the support and trust bestowed on me by the members of PIKOM," said Cheah. "Mr. Woon Tai Hai has been a supportive and visionary chairman and has led PIKOM to achieve many milestones during his two-year Chairmanship. Receiving the baton from him constitutes a continuity in our current strategies and plans. I am confident that the 5-year strategic direction announced earlier this year takes into account many current and future trends in the industry."
"Malaysia is a country full of much potential and I believe technology plays a vital role as a catalyst in realising abundant opportunities," he said.
"ICT is also a key factor in helping Malaysia transform itself into a knowledge-based economy, which will achieve high-income status nation by 2020."
"Together with the newly elected council, we will continue to drive the growth of the ICT industry, locally and regionally, in the coming years to help contribute to the national vision," added Cheah.
The newly elected office bearers and Councillors will be joined by four (4) existing Councillors who are serving a two-year term from 2012-2014. PIKOM President/CEO, Shaifubahrim Saleh also sits on the Council. Here is the full list of the Council.
