Malaysian ICT solutions provider Dataprep Group has been appointed as the main ICT and project delivery partner for the Secret Garden Resorts project in China, which has a gross development value of US$6 billion.
Speaking on 21 February 2012, Dataprep Group (Dataprep) chief executive officer Ahmad Rizan said the Secret Garden Resorts project, which is based in the city of Chong Li, Province of Hebei, People's Republic of China, about 250km west of Beijing, will be a world-class integrated ski resort development covering an area of 100 sq km to be built over several years.
Rizan said the project, planned to be a major international tourism destination in China, is the brainchild of Datuk Lim Chee Wah, who is the principal shareholder and director of Dataprep Group.
"The contract encompasses the design of the ICT Master Plan for the entire development of the project and also to provide the overall management of the ICT and technology aspects including consultation, design, development, procurement, project management and other related services," he said, adding that the signing ceremony took place between DP International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dataprep Holdings Berhad and 3rd Valley (Zhangjiakou) Resort Corporation in Beijing.
"This project serves as a launch pad for Dataprep to leapfrog into providing ICT infrastructure and solutions in China," said Rizan. "It also signals our entry into the Northeast Asia - China market and positions us as a regional ICT player. By playing a key role as one of the founding team members of this prestigious project in China, Dataprep stands to gain enormously by establishing a solid regional portfolio. A Project of this size needs a strong delivery team and hence a project delivery partner like Dataprep is essential to ensure the project is executed and delivered within the desired cost and timeframe."
"We are very pleased to appoint Dataprep as our ICT project delivery partner," said 3rd Valley (Zhangjiakou) Resort Corporation chief executive officer, Ye Xiang. "They are one of the few regional ICT companies that have the experience, intellectual capital, and the right talents to deliver such a large-scale, multi-million dollar project in China."
Secret Garden Resorts Project includes a ski village, 18-hole golf course, convention centre, traditional Chinese medicine wellness centre, theme park and family entertainment zone, horse riding facilities, and multiple two-star, three-star, four-star, and five-star hotels and branded condominiums.
Dataprep's Rizan said the company will design, develop, execute, operate and maintain the approved ICT master plan for the project.
