Malaysian WiMAX provider Packet One (P1) has marked the Chinese new year of the dragon with new voice services that include free calls to both local and popular international destinations.

With effect from 18 January 2012, P1 chief executive officer Michael Lai said that P1 customers of the company's ONE and HOME plans can call their friends and family to exchange New Year greetings.

"We are pleased to offer this new free voice service, which includes both local and popular international destinations as part of our broadband plan, simply to ensure our customers are getting as much value for money as possible," said Lai.

"Offering this promotion in conjunction with the Chinese New Year is P1's way of sharing the festive joy," he said, adding that P1 ONE and HOME plan subscribers could enjoy free voice calls for two whole months, ranging from 100 to 150 minutes per month depending on their plans.

He said subscribers could now call friends and family on both their fixed and mobile lines in Singapore, China, Hong Kong and USA from as low as 10 Malaysian cents per minute (about 3 US cents). "Additionally they can also call fixed lines in Australia, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, UK and Canada."
