Motivated people are the key: Tim Miller, CEO of Rally Software

Zafar Anjum | April 21, 2014
Motivated people who want to come to work are the key to solving some of the world’s toughest problems, says Tim Miller, CEO of Rally Software, in this interview.

Rally Software

Rally has been ranked as one of the best medium sized workplaces listed by Fortune magazine. Can you talk about the core values of your company and how it has helped your company grow?

It has always been one of my top priorities to create a place where people enjoy coming to work every day. It is my belief that motivated people who want to come to work are the key to solving some of the world's toughest problems. I believe our values create tremendous good will, and that translates into productivity and innovation both for our employees and our customers.

Since its founding, Rally's core values have centered on: (1) pursuing opportunities and passions (we call it "Creating your own reality"), (2) cultivating trust and respect, (3) living Agile, and (4) balancing personal commitments, work and the community.

The concept of "Creating your own reality" is mentioned regularly by employees as a key benefit of our culture. Employees are encouraged to explore their interests and leanings, and can change roles, titles and even departments as long as these align with the company's goals. We think it is unique in the workplace and we are proud of this value.
