Multimedia Supercorridor Malaysia status firm Creative Advances Technology's online travel portal - Smart Online Travel Assistant, or SOTA - is the first travel portal to bring together multiple travel suppliers onto a single online platform, according to the Malaysia Book of Records.

Creative Advances Technology (CAT) chief executive officer Rohizam Md Yusoff said SOTA is the only neutral online travel platform that meets the needs of both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) travel operators. "As compared to other travel websites where there is only one travel seller or a single online travel agent, SOTA brings together multiple travel suppliers onto one single online platform, giving consumers access to a wider choice of travel providers and products."

"We are deeply honoured that SOTA has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the first online travel portal in Malaysia that caters to multiple travel suppliers," said Rohizam. "This recognition is an acknowledgement of our first-mover efforts in the online travel market."

MBOR's founder and managing director Datuk Danny Ooi presented the certificate acknowledging SOTA as the first of its kind in Malaysia to Rohizam in MBOR's office recently.

"Tourism is one of the largest industries contributing to Malaysia's economy and we applaud CAT for developing an online travel portal that can help travel providers in Malaysia reach more travel buyers by maximising the potential of online travel bookings in the growing travel market," Ooi said.

SOTA is also the first to organise a Virtual Travel Fair (VTF) that offers travel deals from multiple travel providers in Malaysia. VTF enables travel buyers to browse and purchase a wide variety of  discounted domestic and international travel packages online, with the proposition of 'No traffic jam, no jostling crowds, no hassle.' The fair has been running every year since 2011 and the fifth VTF will be held in March this year.
