National Australia Bank (NAB) reported that some customers had trouble accessing their online bank accounts today.

A NAB spokeswoman told Computerworld Australia that a system issue with one of NAB's vendors this afternoon led to high traffic volumes on its Internet banking platform, which led to a 'lag or timeout' for some users.

"During the issue, bankers at NAB's contact centres helped customers transact. The issue was resolved quickly and Internet banking is running as normal," she said.

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) was also hit with a card network outage last night, which affected merchant facilities.

BOQ customers experienced intermittent issues when trying to use the bank's point of sale terminals and some non-BOQ and Redi ATMs from 4:30pm AEST yesterday through to this morning.

In early August, Westpac experienced issues with its online and mobile banking services which lasted two days.

Customers were asked to visit branches or use ATM and EFTPOS services.
